Hello Everyone, (or my couple of friends who read) sorry I've been away from the blog for a while. I took some time off to spend with my one and only SPECIAL girl and work on some exciting things coming up. This blog is LONG overdue for a makeover, you know since it started out as a way to show my customers choices for bags and baby bedding. Now it's been almost two years since I retired from sewing and my party planning/styling/design work has taken off. I can't wait to start fresh soon with a new look and lots of new exciting changes to this blog. I have also been hard at work getting ready for my daughter's birthday coming up in a month. HERE is a look at last years Vintage Birthday party. One of my favorites!

Really cute Golf party I found from Katie Grace Designs! She did this party for her son Sawyer's 2nd birthday! I just love that he was thinking of "golf cart rides" when he was sick and that is exactly what they gave him! He is so cute and she just pulled off such a wonderful party (IN TWO WEEKS)! Love the creative signs for food!

Easter/Spring Easy DIY burlap wreath

This was an easy project I did this morning. It took me about 20 minutes to do. I am using burlap and neutrals throughout my house so I wanted something the same look and still springy at the same time. Good thing about this wreath is I can take the butterfly off and add something summery or a vintage Welcome sign and use it again and again!

Supplies:

{ All my supplies came from Hobby Lobby}

2 yards of burlap (2.99 yd)

12x2 inch styrofoam wreath

Embellishment (butterfly $1.99)

Scissors

Pencil

Hot glue gun

1 1/2 yard of Ribbon

Total cost: $12

Excuse my hot glue gun. I've had it for over 13 years. It's in rough shape!

Cut the burlap in 3x3 to 4x4 inch squares

(It doesn't really matter if they aren't all the same size)

Put the pencil in the middle of the square, then add a little hot glue around the tip

Stick it in top, outside and inside

Fill in where needed

Custom Cowboy Rodeo & Cowgirl Party kits

I have been really bad lately about posting the kits I've made. Here are two I just finished, the cowgirl one was shipped off to a customer from Texas who contacted me from my blog and the Rodeo kit was just shipped to Montana. She also found my blog searching for ideas for her son's party. I still haven't decided when I will start my Etsy store. I am so busy as it is and I don't know if I can keep up by myself. Also, I really don't like the whole shipping process. I need to hire me a shipping specialist. When I get enough together for print your own kits, I will start my store then. For now, I am staying busy locally and a few orders a month from around the country!

My daughter's room {diy tufted headboard}

Finishing up... Emmy's big girl room!

I got the pattern for the shape of the headboard and directions from the blog Design*Sponge

She also features a video with step by step instructions and the list of supplies needed. So, since she did such a great job, I skipped all that.

HERE is the template to download with all the measurements for cutting your wood. The template is for a Queen size but it's easy to figure out the measurements for smaller or larger size.

UPDATE: I forgot to add a link for the tufting part. There are lots on sites out there with different ways to go about "the tufting" but this is a site I found that did it the way I did. (use a finishing nail to tie the upholstery thread to on the back) You need two people. I only had me while my husband slept on the couch two feet away. Not cool! :)

I don't have the exact price, but it was around $60 for the wood, foam, fabric, and buttons!

BEDDING

The bedding is Amy Butler "Full Bloom" which is at Bed Bath and Beyond now. Below is the picture from that site. I fell in love with the comforter after I had already found the fabric above that I used on the head board. I couldn't believe how well it went with this bedding. I bought the comforter, one Euro pillow, sheets and a couple of her throw pillows. This line is expensive in my opinion and I'm not really happy with a few things. First, I have to say the comforter is the softest most wonderful thing, but the sham doesn't look or lay at all like the picture below. The edges (or ruffle around the shams) are the flimsy cotton that doesn't not "stick up" like this picture. I sew and make bedding and still haven't figured out a way to fix that unless I sew my own ruffles around it. Still figuring that out.

The quilt I found at TJ Maxx and I thought it went perfect and it does. Lots of mixed fabrics going on here!

See this picture and how the sham is pitiful. The Euro sham is a little better but I had to add stuffing in the corners to help it look okay!

Look at the picture on Bed Bath and Beyonds website. How nice and ironed their sheets are...

You would definitely need to iron these and I'm not into that. I loved these colors so I had to have them even though they went with a different set from Amy Butler. They were 49.99 for twin sheets (i think that is high) and they are the hardest most wrinkled sheets EVER! They feel and sound like paper! She is an amazing fabric designer, can't she make some softer sheets? The picture above is with about 5 washes and lots of fabric softener and removing them straight from the dryer. Again, I'm not ironing them. I now has a set of Ralph Lauren sheets I got on clearance from Dillards that are so soft! BOOO waste of $50!

I sewed the bed skirt!

The comforter came in a bag so I cut it up and used the fabric to cover her lamp shade. the edges I covered with the straps!

I bought this chandy at Lowes on clearance a few years ago and it was cream and orangey tan. I don't want to say it was ugly in case some one owns this, but it needed a little paint job. I used craft paint. I had shades on the lights when this was her nursery but took them off because they were pail pink.

I bought this dresser on clearance at Hobby Lobby 3 years ago (the white looks bad in this photo) it was really weird grey blue and I painted it white for her nursery. For her big girl room I painted it a light Aqua

Should I paint her side table that matches the dresser blue too? The dresser is in the open closet so they are kind of separated.

Leave it white?

I found this old roll top desk at Goodwill, I painted it but still needs something??? Also still looking for a cute chair. It is a very narrow space.

The Alphabet wall was a plan I had for a while. I have seen several versions of this on blogs and I just fell in love with it. My daughter just loves it! I have since done a boy version for a nursery. It is so cute too! I got a few of the letters from Hobby Lobby and the rest from HERE woodenletters.net. They have tons of fonts.

I need to finish the curtains and a few other details. Then I will post more pictures of hopefully a finished room SOON! I'm also working on my room then repainting the kitchen/living room. I'm going for the de-cluttered/simple white on white vintage/modern/eclectic look. Is there such a thing?

Shamrock Snacks

I found at Sun Scholar! So fun for kids!

Aren't these cute?! She came across the idea in Family Fun Magazine. HERE is the link to the FamilyFun.com directions. She outlined step by step with pictures below! How neat is that???

Ingredients:
- Pkg of Yogurt Pretzels
- White Chocolate Chips (I used about 1/2 a bag, or 1 cup)
- Green Frosting (I made my own, using a great recipe from Allrecipes.com found HERE)
- Green Sprinkles

Directions:
1) Place about 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips in a glass dish, and microwave for 30 seconds at about 50% power. Stir. Do this two or three times, until you are able to completely melt the chips. DO NOT OVER HEAT!

You should be able to stir the chocolate smooth and free of lumps.

2) Line a surface or baking sheet with wax paper.

3) Dip the bottom half of a pretzel in the melted chocolate, making sure each side is nicely coated. Place the pretzel onto your wax paper.

4) Repeat Step 3 with the second and third pretzels, laying each to form the shape of a shamrock.

5) If you have broken pretzels, you can use them for the stem of your shamrock. If not, you can carefully cut pretzels like we did below.

6) Dip the end of the shamrock stems into the melted chocolate, and put into place on the wax paper.

Here is what your shamrocks will look like when assembled. Some of them, we chose to lay the stem flat, while others (like this one below) we had placed so that it stood off of the wax paper.

And we thought we'd try to to make some four-leaf clovers while we were at it... of course, right?

7) Time to mix up some frosting! I used a great Sugar Cookie Icing recipe from Allrecipes.com, found HERE. I like this frosting because it sets hard, and is easy to whip up. I doubled the recipe, and found that I had twice as much frosting as I needed. So if you use one package of yogurt pretzels, you can expect to follow the recipe as it is written.

Icing Recipe:

- 1 cup powdered sugar

- 2 tsp milk

- 2 tsp light corn syrup

- 1/4 tsp almond extract (or vanilla)

- we added green food color

I added it to a piping bag with a small tip, but you could just as easily use a Ziploc bag and cut a small tip off of the corner.

8) Outline your shamrocks with the icing. Add your sprinkles soon after, before the frosting begins to set!

And there you have it! A fun St. Patty's day snack!

This baseball themed party was a baby shower but the ideas are great for a boys birthday party! I just love the old time feel! I love the table decorations, the big league chew (I forgot about that stuff) and all the signs/labels/tags are Awesome!

Breakfast Birthday Bash!

I found this party on Celebrations at Home and shared it on my KB Custom Designs Facebook, but I wanted to feature it on my blog!

Loving this breakfast birthday bash theme, not only because it's a great idea but how pretty is this? Of course I love the Vintage feel and all the burlap mixed with bright colors. I love the flowers, the little details of milk being served in glass pitchers with labels, the selections of syrup in the colorful vintage jars. My favorite has to be the blueberry pancakes stacked and served with her 1 candle in place of a cake. Beautiful and brilliant!!!

I've done a few zebra kits lately, all custom made for different themes. I just love when parties can be custom made, like the "zebra print party with a little Justin Bieber". How fun is that? I don't know about you, but I'm 30ish and I love him! Not in the dirty kind of way, but if you watched Ellen the other day when he was on, you would want a party kit with a life size JB at your party too! Then, last weekend I did this Minnie Mouse zebra print design. Last minute decided to make the m&m candy cones as the favors. I just loved them and plan to do these more in the future! They were a hit!

Alphabet wall

I made this Alphabet wall a few months ago for my daughter's room. It was really fun and she just loves it! I then got an order to do one for a baby boy's nursery! I have to get it finished this weekend and can't wait to show pictures! Also, I'll be posting pictures of my daughter's room soon! I still need to finish working on the curtains and then it will be done!!!!

but it is CLEAN!!! Just don't look in the closet!!! I have an entire closet filled with fabric! The door barely shuts and underneath that fabric curtain around the table is organized piles of party stuff that needs to find a new home! Hey, I only clean this room about twice a year so this is exciting to me!!! Lots of room on my new Martha Stewart shelves so I need to fold some of that fabric and get a store room for party stuff and I will be a happy girl! Until then, this is it!

Oh my! I am sharing this yummy dip with you for a last minute idea for the big game but really I put it on here so I could remember this for my next party dip. I am going to be addicted. If I was brave enough to go to the store now (the day before the Super bowl... go to Walmart in Louisiana-Saints country... Don't think so!) I would be eating this tonight. Yummy!

Jalapeno Popper Dip

Recipe from Our Best Bites

2 8-oz. packages cream cheese (light works great)

1 c. mayonnaise (light also works here, but DON'T use Miracle Whip!)

1 c. Parmesan cheese

1 4-oz. can fire roasted green chilies

1/2-1 4-oz. can diced jalapeno peppers*, drained

1-2 sourdough baguettes, sliced, and/or crackers

*1/2 can is mild with a little bite, a whole can is definitely on the spicy side, but if you've gottaste buds of steel, you might prefer a 7-oz. can. 4 ounces definitely pushes the limit for my husband and I and our kids won't touch it.

Preheat oven to 350. In a medium bowl, combine the ingredients and spread into a 9" pie plate or a small baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until dip is bubbly and golden brown.

To create this exact party you will need to buy/find/make:

A bag of large pretzels, bag of your favorite flavor of chips, bag of popcorn, water or other drink

An 18 "novelty" cupcakes or make on your own! {there's was from The Cake Box - cakebox.ca}

At the craft store buy a pack of small kraft bags

At the hardware store buy some small wooden dowels {each dowel makes two flags}

At the Dollar store buy a roll of twine, 3 small bamboo cutting boards, small clothes pins, wine boxes {painted white to act as risers}

Around your house find containers for popcorn and chips {they used ramekins and mason jars}, table cloth, napkins, bull clip for sign

Pumpkin Patch Party

I just realized I never posted all the pictures of the Pumpkin Patch Party I did in November. I planned this entire party set up to tear down. This beautiful little girl has had several health problems over her first year of life so the Mom and Dad wanted to just have a party they could enjoy with their family and not have to worry about doing a lot of work. This is why you hire a party planner and a photographer. ***Great update since the party, Reide has been weened off her feeding tube and is eating like a big girl and holding her weight! Prayers have been answered!

Caramel popcorn cones

The main table had a lot of cuteness going on.

I took plastic pumpkins and cut the top off to add fresh Fall flowers from Walmart. So simple and CHEAP! They were perfect for this table! Also, here you can see some of the cute candy jars.

I made the cones using different fall scrapbook papers and collected branches from the yard :)

Veggie cups are my favorite! They were a hit for adults and kids.

I made these candied apples and they were yummy!! I went out to the yard to collect these sticks! I brushed them off, a little dirt wont hurt. That's what I was always told.

DIY Valentines tulle wreath for under $10

RePost: from last year! This was a really cute and cheap idea, so I wanted to share it with you again!

DIY project made for under $10

OK, so i wanted something sweet and cute (kiddy) for my front door.

I made this tulle wreath for under around $8

Get the round Styrofoam wreath from Dollar Tree

4 yards of tulle total (I used 2 yards each) from Walmart

Red and pink ribbon from Michaels

LOVE from Hobby Lobby

Made just like a Rag wreath:

Cut tulle into 15 inch strips doubled up and tie them on in knots

If you mix colors I did 3 in a row of the red and then 3 pink

Push them tight together

Add ribbon last and add something cute to the middle.

EASY!!!

I am still going to add something around the door, so it's not so plain!

Vintage Birthday Party

My daughter Emmy's Vintage Birthday party! So, it only took me a month to get these on here. December was just crazy for everyone and I knew this would take me a while! I just had the best time shopping, planning and styling this entire party! Emmy had a wonderful time and it was the most beautiful warm day for end of November. I stressed out trying to do it all by myself, but had a couple of helpers in the end! All I forgot were the $30 in balloons I had paid for and forgot to send someone to pick up. Other than that, I am quit the party planner! HA! Enjoy the pictures!

This is obviously a photo I took, the sun was leaving a bad glare!

I made the flower broach using silk with a sticker pendant I found in a pack from Michaels. It looked real! I love it.

I found these old silver platters at Goodwill and made a 3 tiered stand using clear candle sticks in between. One of the platters is engraved Woman of the year 1959! Ha! Only cost me $7

Favors: I made all the girls vintage headbands with silk fabric flowers and feathers and the boys bow ties.

I used some of the cookies for favors, wrapped with vintage fabric ties and tags I stamped

CANDY, candy and more candy!

I found this labels HERE and created all my tags for the jars and sign! It was perfect so that made less work for me!

My grandmother had these old chairs. I just love them all mix-matched and bad paint jobs!

I loved this and so did everyone! I created them on picnik, giving them all the vintage touch. My family each took some home. I want to frame them all! The best of year 2!

Had to have a photo booth, but as I was searching around for vintage hats and other dress up items, I realized that could cost me a fortune so I decided to just use the printables along with the headbands and bowties for the kids. I printed from several different sites.

The sun was glaring on my real "photo booth" with my vintage fabric back drop so we had to move over to the shade. Not the affect I was wanting, but fun!!

My Vintage Emmy is turning 3!

My daughter's birthday is coming up!!! I'm excited!!! I just couldn't settle on a theme this year. After having a Circus party for her last year with pony rides, clown, jumpy house, CANDY galore it was hard to come up with something that would be fun for the kids, but knowing it will probably be the last year I got to pick it all on my own. Yes, selfish I guess, but if you know my daughter she loves everything pretty and is quite the party planner herself! She said she wanted pink, okay... check! Sort of! Well it will be pretty and I love all things Vintage and old, so I'm having fun shopping! Well, just to be on the safe side I rented a princess jumpy house, that has absolutely nothing to do with the theme. Hope the boys are okay with that! Here is a little preview of my Vintage baby girl Emerson Kate!

I made her invite really SIMPLE compared to my normal work! A Vintage postcard invite.

Here is a sneak peak from the Pumpkin Patch Party I did a couple of weeks ago for a beautiful little ONE year old girl, Reide. I did the entire party from set up to tear down. Whew! I made all the food myself with help from my wonderful little cake maker and my sugar cookie gal! I custom designed a entire party kit for Reide. Banners, labels, Pom Poms OH MY! Obstacle Course Party

I have been MIA for almost a month! I did get a little make over on my blog. I just had it cleaned up a little! I think I like the white background!!! I'm back and ready to work!

Here is a party I recently styled, location was set at a beautiful park. This is the first of a few parties coming up that I did from top to bottom. From set up to tear down and clean up! My client just had her 4th child and didn't have the time to really plan a party. Honestly, she was very laid back through the whole process. She told me three things, 1- he wanted chocolate cake, 2-he liked anything competitive, and 3-she wanted to have it at the park after school for all the kids in his class. THATS IT! Oh, and we were on a budget! I kept it simple but bright. I always like to see how far I can run with my independence and she let me! HA! So, I hired someone to do the cake and the cookies and I did the rest!! I even took all the pictures! Thank goodness I have a photographer that will be joining me for all my big parties coming up! What a weight lifted off my shoulders!! More about that later!

I got this idea for the medals from Martha Stewart Kids then had them made by Stacey Crawford. I added the ribbon to them and they turned out perfect and yummy!

I had to get wrapped candy in coordinating colors,which we ended up throwing in the snack sacks. A small candy buffet can still make a punch! Keeping it on a budget!!! Labels by KB Custom Designs

Here is my (budget friendly) take of the obstacle course I found from Martha Stewart Kids. This was very easy to do and fun for kids this age! Boys and girls!

This was a beautiful day at the park! Jack's Mom loved it and said she plans to hire me for her other kids birthdays! Hey, that's great!!! It all went really good! Had to plan it all out so not to forget the little things... candles, lighter, knife to cut the cake, etc. Things you can't just run inside for!
